Some of the last generation’s most famous bodybuilders, like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno, laid the groundwork for today’s muscle-bound celebrities. Schwarzenegger remainsthe most recognizeable bodybuilder and fitness spokesperson in history, spearheading the National Presidential Fitness campaign and starring in films like “Conan the Barbarian” and “The Terminator”.
These days there are websites, blogs, television shows and magazines dedicated solely to lean muscle and gaining mass. Multiple Mr. Olympia contest winners Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler have many more endorsment and commercial opportunities thanks to the attention bodybuilding has received in the last decade. They are able to parlay their success in the fitness world into lucrative writing jobs, speaking engagements, and even private training camps.
Rich Gaspari, one of the most successful bodybuilders of the 70’s and 80’s, competed in several contests in his prime, even placing second at the 1987 Mr. Olympia. His undying passion for fitness led him to open his own supplement company, Gaspari Nutrition, which specializes in mass-gaining supplements and sponsors current competitive bodybuilding champions Ava Cowan and Flex Lewis.
Even female bodybuilders are getting in on the act. Perhaps the most well-known female in the sport is Jamie Eason. A pro bodybuilder, fitness and figure competitor and model for five years now, Ms. Eason is the face of Bodybuilding.com and has graced the cover of numerous womens’ fitness magazines.
